After last night's heroics from Corey Kluber, the enigmatic Trevor Bauer takes the mound hoping to help the Tribe to a long-awaited series win. Unfortunately, the opposing pitcher is Michael Wacha, who has been superb in five of his six starts and has only conceded nine earned runs all season in establishing a 2.09 ERA. Bauer will need to be on his best game, as this looks like a really tough match-up for the Tribe's hitters.
With the Tribe's current 25-man roster containing a surfeit of left-handers, there is no room for David Murphy in today's team. Rather uncharacteristically, Tito has chosen to stack four (strictly) left-handed hitters together in the middle of the line-up.
After being hit on the arm by a pitch from Corey Kluber yesterday, Matt Holliday is missing today for the Cardinals wasn't in the originally announced line-up, but was put in as DH just before start time.
Today's minor league action featues a really exciting pitching line-up (Chacin, Anderson, Plutko and Sheffield). The schedule is as follows (see here for live scores):
7:05pm ET: Columbus (19-14) @ Pawtucket (20-14) with the former Rockies starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin making his Clippers debut.
6:00pm ET Akron (14-19) @ Altoona (20-11) in which the revitalized Cody Anderson gets the start for the RubberDucks.
11:00am ET: Frederick (18-16) @ Lynchburg (12-22) who have the consistently outstanding Adam Plutko on the mound.
7:05 pm ET: Lake County (18-15) @ Fort Wayne (10-2) as the Captains go for seven wins in a row with top prospect Justus Sheffield up.
