  • The Candidates

This week's nominees include a reliever, which is quite a rarity.

    Cody Allen

Allen pitched 4 innings in 4 games. He didn't allow any runs, and only two men even reached base against him (both on Wednesday). He had a total of 8 strikeouts on the week, including 3 in Friday night's save, one of three saves he had on the week.

    Trevor Bauer

Bauer started two games, and did very well both times. On Tuesday he pitched 7 innings against the Yankees, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) and striking out 6. It was the first time in his MLB career he's finished 7 innings. On Sunday, he pitched his best game as an Indian, delivering 6.2 shutout innings, with a career high 10 strikeouts.

    Michael Brantley

Brantley hit .333/.344/.600 in 32 plate appearances last week, good for a wRC+ of 160. He led the team with 10 hits, including 2 doubles (21 and 22 on the year) and 2 home runs (14 and 15). His top game of the week was Tuesday's, when he went 3 for 4 with three extra-base hits, and drove in three runs in the 5-3 win.

    Nick Swisher

A rare appearance around these parts. Swisher hit .300/.300.600 in 30 plate appearances last week, good for a wRC+ of 152. He led the team with 3 home runs, 5 runs scored, and 7 runs driven in. His home runs on Tuesday and Friday each put the Indians ahead.

    The Winner

It's awesome seeing Brantley continuing to excel, and I'd love to reward Swisher for his best week of the season, or Allen for doing everything asked of him last week. This seems like an easy one to me though, as Trevor Bauer had the best week of his career, and just keeps looking better and better.

Congratulations, Trevor. May there be many more of these to come for you!
