Positive game thread 7/23

Sorry if i'm stepping on Let's go Tribe protocol, but i can't stand the complaining and negativity in the main site game thread calling for the end of the world and the end of jake and lee's careers and shapiro's head.

Only requirement here is to be positive, and you know root for the Indians here at this Indians forum.

I think jake is just the right umpire away from settling in in some of these starts.  he seems to get squeezed on a couple calls then gets flustered.  i think lester's going to be shaky today. let's steal this game - 5am is a long night last night...

You don't have the game on ESPN2?

Jake doesn't have a plus pitch tonight, from what I can tell. If Jake doesn't have his sinker, there's not a lot else there. He doesn't locate wonderfully and his stuff's not great.

He's battling, kind of. He needs that sinker to turn on.

Re: Positive game thread 7/23
He's not locating too great, but he's getting squeezed a little bit. The announcers were noting as much in the first inning when he wasn't getting any low strikes, which is kinda key for a sinkerballer.

Re: Positive game thread 7/23
On Manny's punch out, it looked like Westbrook was peppering the lower part of the strike zone, both in and off the plate. All five pitches were at the knees, so it sounds like if he is missing, he isn't missing by much.

At that price, it's sensible as a two-year deal.  But he won't sustain those numbers, and the real problem is that he's a replacement level defender at 2B and much more likely to fall off a cliff -- again -- than to do any better.

Re: Positive game thread 7/23
That first pitch to Hafner was in no way shape or form a strike. Not that it matters now, of course.

I love a good mutine.

Actually, the whole existence of this thread does cause me some concern. If "we" need "our" own thread...

I guess I'll let you finish the thought yourself.

No, no, bananas are statistically the most frequently homosexual of all the fruits. E5's just stating the facts.

Does anybody know of any news alert services that may be able to send a text when Bonds goes yard next time?  In lieu of that, can we all agree to post a diary when he does?  I'd love to see the record breaker.

Re: Positive game thread 7/23
For anybody that missed it, this, from the weekend B-List....

Now, much has been made about the confrontations between Lee and Victor Martinez, especially after he struck Sosa in the head (to date, Sosa has no lasting effects and will play tonight, which is good news for how solidly he was struck).  I am struggling to imagine this conversation about "tactics:"

Martinez: Hey!  Pendejo!  Don't hit him in the head!
Lee: Bitch, bitch, bitch!  First it's "throw strikes" and then it's "stop throwing meatballs" and now it's "don't hit anyone upside the head."  Make up your mind already!
Martinez: What do you mean, make up my mind?!  Those things aren't mutually exclusive!
Lee: You're just persecuting me because I'm white.
Martinez: No, I'm persecuting you because you suck. Stop sucking!
Lee: Man, you're just never satisfied, are you?
Martinez: Not with sucking, no.

I mean, I kind of have to side with Martinez here.

I got a great visual of Victor shouting the phrase "mutually exclusive" at Lee during a visit to the mound.  Classic.

Re: Positive game thread 7/23
In the future I hope that there aren't conflicting game threads.  It didn't make things any easier or less anoying.

Does anybody ever watch / listen to the procession of conspiracy based screed that comes that airs on C-Span's American Journal?  Even the wildest game thread stays soooo much closer to reality than that program.

Any other Greta Wodele fans in the house?  She's the only reason I stay tuned.
