Adam Miller & Wyatt Toregas are up, BUT...

are not playing; they are just up to learn how to scout ML games.

Hello everyone,

I just found out yesterday from this Indians.com article that top pitching prospect Adam Miller and noted catching prospect Wyatt Toregas are up with the Indians, but no, they're not going to play in any ML games this season.

Instead, Miller is learning how the Indians do their scouting reports on opposing pitchers and charting pitches from behind home plate.

Toregas is also doing that; he will participate in the fall instructional league, as well as play half a season of winter ball and participate in the Indians' Winter Development Program in Cleveland in January.

We all know that Miller is a lock for the 40-man, but with the plans for Toregas in the near future, I'm starting to think more and more that he is becoming more of a lock for the 40-man as well, plus the fact that solid catching prospects are hard to find.

So, that would be 2 spots taken; I'm thinking Sipp and possibly Martin could be locks - if so, that's 4.  How many spots could we have - 6 maybe?  I'm starting to think more and more Goleski will be left off because the Indians will think that he won't be selected because his BB/K ratio at AA was marginal (36 BB/87 K,) plus the fact that he'll be 25 in March 2007.  If he would be selected, the Indians probably will think that he won't stick on a ML roster all season and he'll be returned.

Just some thoughts to consider about the 40-man.  :-)
