Hey, some of us are gainfully employed. But I usually only contribute during day games because my computer and TV are in different rooms at home.

No comment about productivity.

Re: Game Thread: July 5, 2007
I'm "working" from home today, so I'll actually have the rare opportunity to watch the game on television.

Indians lineup:

Sizemore, CF
Blake, 3B
Martinez, C
Hafner, DH
Peralta, SS
Garko, 1B
Nixon, RF
Francisco, LF
Barfield, 2B

Nixon today, I hope he doesn't cost us defensively in that huge outfield. Look for an early Gutz replacement if he does.

Nice AB by Nixon.  By so weakly flailing at Verlander's pitch, he filled him with overconfidence which no doubt directly led to the wild pitch.  That's veteran leadership.

Re: Game Thread: July 5, 2007
One of the guys creeping up on Sabathia's list of comparable pitchers is Greg Maddux.  On the surface, their physical presence and stuff on the mound couldn't seem more different.  But having watched Maddux a lot while in college (I was in Atlanta), one similarity the two posess is how quickly they work on the mound.  CC takes almost no time between pitches these days.

Did a Google earth search and found out that London, Ontario is not in fair territory in Detroit. It is in foul territory behind the third base dugout. Tilbury would be down the third base line.

You are almost in dead center from the Jake.

Bahaha that's awesome!

So the last time Cliff pitched in T.O. was August 2, 2004. This was in the midst of a huge slump for Cliff, and after pitching poorly once again he tossed his hat and glove into the crowd. He was jovial in the locker room after the game though, saying how he just wanted to give some fans a souvenir.

As far as I'm concerned, these two teams are pretty evenly matched, and it's going to be a fun pennant race. That said, I've got too much going on to be frustrated by this game today. Go Tribe.

Yes, he did.  Sheffield is a punk. He ought to lead the league in being hit by pitches simply because he is a punk.

Hammy noted earlier the significant discrepancy between the number of times Indians' hitters have been hit by a pitch and the number of batters hit by the Indians' pitching.  I inferred that Hammy would like to see the Indians pitchers do more to protect their hitters.

Re: Game Thread: July 5, 2007
Say, did you guys know that Matt Miller was optioned to Buffalo fully 21 days ago?

No particular reason to bring that up of course.

Re: Game Thread: July 5, 2007
Seriously, what are we waiting for with him.  If he's going to be effective (which he always is when healthy), he might as well do it with the parent club.

Re: Game Thread: July 5, 2007
Yeah the Eddie Moo sighting again tonight was clearly one last chance, considering Miller's now back for Buffalo, albeit he hasn't been sharp in his return.

You find out where you're sitting on Saturday?

Re: Game Thread: July 5, 2007
So, yeah. I have to imagine that's it for Mujica, as has been said above. Hopefully we can go into Toronto & take two & just leave this series behind & then rest up a bit over the AS break. Kind of a depressing couple of losses after the great win on Tuesday, but oh well.

Re: Game Thread: July 5, 2007
I missed out on what happened to Garko.  Was he hurt?  Did it appear he'd be out long?

Re: Game Thread: July 5, 2007
The trainer came out and looked at Garko and he finished his at bat.  He may have strained something while swinging.  We'll know later.

Re: Game Thread: July 5, 2007
Do I like that we lost of 2 of 3 to Detroit? Heck no. But in a way I'll take it. If we had taken 2 of 3 on the road against our main division rival, that would have been gravy.

We won the first game (probably when we shouldn't have), lost the second game (that we should have won - lots of good D on hard hit balls by detroit) and got smoked in game 3 (Nice outing from CC!).

If we take 2 of 3 from Toronto, and head to the break at +18, I'll take it.

Re: Game Thread: July 5, 2007
They need to take advantage of all the home games after the break in July, because after August 2, only 21 of the last 54 games are at Jacobs.

Re: Game Thread: July 5, 2007
The Indians took the first 5 games from Detroit,
the last of the streak being the 5-run comeback in the bottom of the 12th on June 1.  Since then, Detroit has taken 4 of 5 from the Indians.  So the Indians still lead the series 6-4 with 8 games left (5 at home).

In the first 5 games, the Indians scored 41 runs, only 19 runs in the last 5.
