How do you tell your girlfriend...

...that Kenny Lofton isn't coming back next year?

Well, here's how you apparently don't do it:

[girlfriend mentions something about Kenny Lofton]
You: Actually, I don't think the Indians are going to re-sign Kenny next year.
Her: What do you mean??
You: Well, they really only traded for Kenny because they needed a good LF.  Their original LF was hurt earlier in the season.
Her: Why can't they keep Kenny instead?
You: They already have the other guy signed to a contract for like $3-4 million.  They'd have to pay Kenny about the same.  We can't afford to keep them both and only play Kenny.
Her: But can't they trade the other guy?
You: Well, his trade value isn't very high right now.  He was hurt most of the season and only batted about .220.
Her: And we're keeping this loser instead of Kenny???

Anyway, if anyone has any tips, let me know.  I expect to have a similar conversation about a dozen more times between now and April.

Poll: If Byrd gets into trouble, then what?

This is my first diary, thanks for reading.  You can argue over whether CC or Byrd should start, but the fact is that Byrd is going to be the one.  The bigger question is what to do if Byrd starts to look shaky (but not terrible) in the early innings.  Let's say it's the 4th inning, Byrd has given up about 3 runs, and doesn't look very sharp at all.  What is the best option?

Poll
If Byrd is shaky around the 4th inning, Wedge should:
  • Bring in CC (Carmona would start Game 5)
  • Go straight to a Circle of Trust-er
  • Do something else (Carmona for 1-2 innings?)
  • Leave him in a little bit longer
  • Bring in Laffey
