Adam Plutko tossed a quality start, giving up three runs in 6.2 innings on seven hits while striking out five and walking two, but it wasn’t enough as the Columbus offense had a rare off night.
Ronny Rodriguez had the lone multi-hit game for the Clippers, going 2-4 with a triple while Tyler Naquin and Yandy Diaz both reached base safely twice with a hit and a walk, but Columbus couldn’t string their hits or walks together to put some support on the board.

Lake County Captains 7, Lansing Lugnuts 1
Box Score · Captains improve to 47-68
Brady Aiken’s strange season continues, this time he was nearly unhittable.
The former first overall draft pick took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before allowing a solo home run, which would be the only damage done against him all night.
All in all, Aiken would toss seven strong innings, giving up just the one hit and one run althought it wouldn’t be an Aiken start if he didn’t walk more batters than he struck out as he whiffed three and allowed four free passes.
The Lake County offense provided a ton of support with 13 hits and seven runs.
Conner Capel had a three-hit game while Gabriel Mejia, Mitch Longo and Li-Jen Chu all had multi-hit games themselves. Luke Wakamatsu also reached base safely three times in the victory.

But that’s not all, the Scrappers also received very strong pitching performances as the Sam Hentges tossed four shutout innings in his comeback from Tommy John surgery while Felix Tati piggy-backed the start with five innings of six-hit, one-run ball to earn the win.
